December’s Pick: Too Purpley! and Too Pickley! Review & Giveaway

This month I am thrilled to introduce an amazing children’s author to you. She has such adorable books, I had to feature not one, but TWO books! Author Jean Reidy and illustrator Genevieve Leloup have tapped into my children’s silly bones with the two amazing children’s books I want to share with you today. Too Purpley! and Too Pickley! never fail to make my boys smile. These two stories of over the top and creative reasons for why a child may not want to wear or eat something are so well-loved by my boys that they never even find down time on our bookshelves. We read these books many times throughout the day and my oldest son will actually take them to bed! You can see why I find it necessary to share these adorable books with you!

Too Purpley! is an adorable children’s book that involves a little girl trying to find the perfect outfit for school. My boys simply adore this book. The short silly phrases and the fun illustrations blend perfectly to tell a very engaging story about finding comfortable clothes to wear. The cute little turtle on every page wearing an outfit that matches the little girl’s is also a great source of entertainment!

Too Pickley! is a fun story about a little boy finding the perfect food to eat. As a parent, I have to say this story really makes me giggle about all those times my boys have refused foods I have tried to serve them. One day my son could eat an entire bag of frozen peas and the following week he tells me he does not like them. This story pokes fun at how choosy kids can be about their food on a daily basis. My boys love it and I have to say that their parents do too! As a little added fun, I told my son to find the pickle ornament on our tree and I would give him a “pickley” surprise. He was extremely excited to find the pickle, and even more excited to receive the Too Pickley! book.

These books are a lot of fun and I really enjoy reading them both to my boys. These books are also great conversation starters. We honestly read these stories on a daily basis and each day my three-year old will start a new and creative conversation based off of one of the clever illustrations in Too Purpley! or Too Pickley! He really loves these stories. He finds these books to be really funny as well as interesting. He comes up with some clever ideas and questions as well!

Since I am such a big fan of Too Purpley! and Too Pickley!, I am super excited to inform you that Reidy has a new book, Too Princessy! scheduled to be released on January 12, 2012!
